famous.

I now officially write for switchFeed (aka the official blog of Switchfoot). Check it out.

And you thought I wasn’t famous. ha.

xoxoxo,
Jill

ps - Yes, the MOTW is slightly illegal. And no, I don’t feel guilty about doing it.

it’s ok, i can live on the street.

I like how Belmont isn’t giving me on-campus housing next semester. I mean, I have come to terms with the fact that they gave me barely any money and that I have to take out a hundred gazillion dollars in loans, because I’m feeling pretty confident that this is where I’m supposed to be. And then they sent this letter… “oops, we ran out of room. Guess you’ll have to find your own place to live.” Thanks a lot. This should be fun, trying to find an apartment and people to live with in a city where I don’t know anyone from 900 miles away. But I guess it’s that or stay in CT (and we all know how I feel about that).

My blogs are always so sad lately. Well, this one isn’t really sad, maybe more annoyed than anything. Let’s see, what has been happy in my life lately…

-I’ve been hiking a lot more. Hiking isn’t actually more fun than other forms of exercise, I just tell myself it is, because I get to be out in the woods. Hiking is also invariably a great time to talk to God, which I rather enjoy.
-I have the cutest nephews in the universe. But you probably already knew that.
-I love my job (still).
-I’ve been volunteering at The Space, which is a cool little venue here in CT. I really like the other staff there, and I get to see free concerts/get free food every week! (even if the bands aren’t usually very good)
-Speaking of concerts, Kim and I are going to see Farewell Flight in concert tonight, and it’s going to be aaaawesome!
-Speaking of concerts again, isHesafe is coming to play in CT on July 15, and that is also going to be awesome. If you live in CT and you read this blog (I know who you are), mark it on your calendars now, because I fully expect you to be there, and I will pester you about it until you agree to come.
-My 20th birthday is in 9 days!
-And lastly, but not leastly, I love it when there are leaves on the trees.

My blogs are so random. Oh well… have a lovely days, mes amis.

fondly,
Jill

WOTW 05/20/07

Hola, amigos, and welcome to the word of the week! I think this week’s word is particularly fitting, considering that it is sooo close to being summer, so the weather should be warming up any day now (I just keep telling myself that). Here you go, folks; enjoy…

-desudation (dee-soo-day’shun) n. –> extreme sweating
Ex: The man felt that a shower was unnecessary, because his desudation had already completely soaked him.

And now, keeping with our theme of bodily fluids, here is this week’s random fact:

In one survey of first-graders, a large percentage chose Diarrhea as the most poetic-sounding female name.

Alright, my dears, I hope you have a wonderful week, and that there is plenty of sunshine for you to enjoy!

xoxo,
Jill (M.D.)

PS - I’m not going to have computer access for the next week-ish, so if you don’t get a prompt reply to emails/comments/etc, it isn’t because I don’t like you. It’s only because I’m not here. Well, I’m here, but not here, if you know what I mean.

WOTW 05/13/07

Hey folks, and welcome to the long-awaited return of the word of the week! I would tell you that I have spent the last six weeks searching far and wide for exciting new words, but that wouldn’t be entirely truthful. However, we do have a spectacular word this week. I think that this word is particularly fitting, considering the damp spring weather we’ve been experiencing…

-keraunophobia (kir”on-o-fo’bee-u) n. –> fear of thunder and lightning
Ex: I have concluded that 90% of toddlers are keraunophobic, and that it’s not fun when they are all in one room during a thunderstorm.

And now, for this week’s random fact:

Spiders don’t eat their victims - they drink them. The only way a spider can take nourishment is by sucking it through a mouth shaped like a soda straw. Spiders coat their prey with a fluid that causes it to dissolve - then they drink the victim for dinner. (and you wonder why I’m scared of spiders?)

Alright, friends, I hope you enjoyed our time here together as much as I did. Until next week, I love you all dearly…

Fondest regards,
Jill (M.D.)

Orders of Business

I know, I’m lame at blogging. Sorry. I have three things to (briefly) discuss today, and then something important (kind of) to blog about later this week. Let’s go…

Firstly, yes, there will be a WOTW next Sunday. Happy now?

Secondly, I now have a Facebook account. I figured I’d make one now that I’ll be transferring to a real school next semester, which gives me a real “network” to join. I don’t know, I still think Facebook is kind of silly (maybe not as bad as MySpace, but close enough), but supposedly it’s the cool thing to be friends with as many people as possible on Facebook, so if you are part of that cult, you should go befriend me there…

Lastly, and most importantly, MY 20TH BIRTHDAY celebration will commence exactly 25 days from today (June 4th for those who don’t like math). And since I know you want to buy me a present, I thought I’d let you know exactly what I want. Probably the best place to get gifts is from my Amazon.com wishlist. That way nobody will buy duplicates, aaaand you don’t even have to know my address to buy me gifts from there (now nobody has an excuse… I expect presents from all of you). I just recently updated it (although there are a couple things hanging around from awhile ago). It’s mostly CDs that I should already have but haven’t gotten around to buying yet, along with a couple books and some other stuff. It’s not very long, because I had a hard time thinking of things that I want. But here’s what I do want/need. Shirts. Yes, shirts. I like t-shirts a lot. So here are some t-shirts that I think are nice:

So Far, This is the Oldest I’ve Ever Been” (especially fitting for my birthday)
Style: “girly tee”, Size: Medium

Jonezetta! (I love JZ, and this shirt is red and pretty)
Size: Small (I’m guessing, I don’t really own any Fruit of the Loom shirts. That’s probably right, though.)

JZ T-shirt

OK, one more, from Sleeping At Last (the band… I love them):
Red Painting Shirt (Size: Small) (<– and it’s on sale!)

I would also like:

-a new hooded sweatshirt (for real)

-a pony (one of these years, someone will buy me a pony and my life will be complete)

-a new car (mine was smoking the other day. luckily I didn’t explode.)

-a life (please?)

And no, I don’t feel guilty for shamelessly begging for gifts. I suppose it’s your choice whether or not you want to give me presents (did I mention that I love presents?). And, come on, how many 20th birthdays does one person get?

As another note: I’m not fond of cards, unless (a) you actually take the time to write something meaningful in it or (b) it’s handmade. If either of those things is true, your card will go on my “special card” bulletin board. Yay for you.

Ok, I’m done.

mucho love-o,

Jill

PS - If you don’t know me/normally read my blog, please don’t think that I’m the most selfish person ever, because I ask for gifts. That might be the case, but I wouldn’t want you to think so.

PPS - I have to send out a huge thanks to my fearless, spider-killing mother, who more or less saved my life this evening. Thanks madre.
